WHAT YOU'LL DO IN THIS ADVENTURE
Pole to Pole’s Expedition Training is a one-week course that offers the perfect starting point for adventurers looking to increase their knowledge and skills in the cold-weather environment. It is designed for those undertaking guided polar expeditions, whether Pole to Pole’s South Pole Last Degree Challenge or Svalbard Crossing Challenge.
Guided by an experienced instructor, this immersive week-long course blends classroom instruction and practical lessons, providing a progressive learning experience and equipping you with the fundamental skills needed to embark on a polar expedition with confidence.
This expert-led course empowers you with the confidence and knowledge to work in the cold-weather environment as part of a team. This course is a life-changing introduction to the world of expedition, and on completion of this course, it will enable you to undertake bigger cold-weather challenges.
The Expedition Training Course is a mandatory requirement for adventurers with little to no prior experience in polar expeditions before participating in Challenge 1 or Challenge 12.

How fit do I need to be?
You’ll need a reasonable level of general fitness and confidence being outdoors for multiple hours per day. You don’t need to be an endurance athlete — just open to challenge and movement in winter conditions.
How cold does it get and is it safe?
Northern Sweden in winter can reach temperatures of –10°C to –25°C. Safety is paramount. You’ll be coached in cold-weather awareness, layering systems and emergency protocols. All activities are closely monitored and professionally supported.
